“I am 16 years old now. It has been just a month since I started working in construction. Of course it is hard and so difficult. I have to go to school as we well as work as me and my brother is the main source of income for my family. I get 250 Rs/- (4$) a day after working from 9am to 6pm. It is nothing but it is something.”
“When I was 5, I started selling candles to the tourist following to Varanasi. That time I was able to sell around 30 to 50 candles. That time it is only 5 rs (not even a cent $) and now a days it is 10. Whether it is cold or foggy, I didn’t had option. I had to hangout with my little basket."
“Like other kids, I also wanted to have toys, I also wanted to fly kite, I also wanted to ride bicycle, I also wanted to play whole day but I was not meant to. I was meant to sell candles (Dia). I was good at it. Now, my younger brother Rohit, he took my place as he is 7. He sells candles in the evening to have some extra income but he is naughty. He don’t sell a lot. He always takes the candles and then play on the ghat whole evening. Some days, he sells around 20-30 candles, only some times. Most of the time he sells around 3 or 5.”
“I actually don’t have any complain as maybe this is what my Alla can give me at this moment. Maybe in the future, he might help me more.”
“Terrorist? What is that? I have no idea. I learn from my religion that killing is bad or harming other human is not good. Maybe those people who kill other people are crazy.”
“I don’t know what this ‘Humans Of Dharamshala is but thank you for buying candles worth 500 rs!. It is a good business. I am sure that my whole family will be very happy to know this. Thank you so much."
